# Model-by-Model AI Visibility Reporting: Real-Time or Daily?

> Can AI visibility platforms report per-model performance and citations in real time? What 'real-time' really means, what to demand and how to evaluate tools.

*By Levi Bouman · Published 2026-11-06 · Updated 2026-11-06 · Original article: https://trackbase.ai/blog/model-by-model-ai-visibility-reporting-real-time-or-daily*

Yes, several [AI visibility](https://trackbase.ai/glossary/ai-visibility) platforms report performance and citations per AI model, but almost none of them do it in real time. Real-time is the wrong thing to look for: AI answers are probabilistic, so a single live check says little. What matters is daily or weekly runs, a clean per-model breakdown and citation data you can trace back to a source URL.

This article explains what "model-by-model" and "real-time" actually mean in tools today, what the cited comparison pages say about it, and how to evaluate a platform in an afternoon.

## What does "model-by-model" reporting actually mean?

A useful per-model report shows the same metrics split by engine, so you can see that ChatGPT recommends you while Gemini ignores you. At minimum you want these columns for every model:

- **Visibility Score or presence rate:** in what share of tracked prompts is your brand mentioned? See [how Trackbase calculates the Visibility Score](https://trackbase.ai/blog/how-trackbase-calculates-your-visibility-score-and-why-its-different).

- **Mentions vs. citations:** being named is not the same as being linked. The difference is explained in [mentions vs. citations](https://trackbase.ai/blog/mentions-vs-citations-why-both-matter-for-your-ai-visibility).

- [**Average position**](https://trackbase.ai/glossary/average-position)**:** where in the answer you appear.

- **Sentiment:** whether the model speaks positively about you.

- [**Cited sources**](https://trackbase.ai/glossary/cited-sources)**:** the exact URLs and domains the model used.

Without the last item, a per-model chart tells you that something is wrong, but not what to fix.

## What do the most-cited comparison pages say about real-time tracking?

We looked at the pages that AI models cite most often for this question on Trackbase's tracked prompts. Three findings stand out.

First, real-time is mostly a marketing phrase. One comparison of citation tracking tools [by The Rank Masters](https://www.therankmasters.com/insights/ai-visibility/best-ai-visibility-tools-citation-tracking) states no real-time citation tracking mode for any tool it reviews. Cadence there ranges from weekly URL-level updates to daily or weekly scan passes. Scrunch AI's "real-time" feeds are AI crawler visits, which show bots reading your pages, not citations in answers. The vendor page for [LLMClicks](https://llmclicks.ai/ai-visibility-tracker/) mentions "real-time continuous monitoring" and a "live tracking" indicator but does not publish how often queries run.

Second, cadence advice is consistent. [HubSpot's tool roundup](https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/best-ai-visibility-tools) recommends weekly refreshes for trends and monthly reviews for patterns, and notes that fewer than 20 prompts can skew results because outputs fluctuate.

Third, model coverage is where tools differ most. In The Rank Masters' comparison, some platforms cover ten or more engines in the base price, while others sell Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok or AI Mode as paid add-ons of roughly €20-30 per engine per month. That makes the true per-model price very different from the headline price.

## Why daily beats real-time for AI visibility

AI models do not return one fixed answer. The same [prompt](https://trackbase.ai/glossary/prompt) can produce a different brand list on the next run. A "live" snapshot therefore captures one draw from a distribution. A daily run per prompt per model gives you a trend line, and the trend is what you act on.

Daily is also the sweet spot for cost and noise. HubSpot's guidance warns that overly frequent refreshes add noise that is hard to act on, while weekly runs can hide short-term shifts after a model update. A 24-hour cycle catches shifts quickly and still gives you enough data points to separate a real change from random variation. For the practical side, see [how to monitor changes in AI answers over time](https://trackbase.ai/blog/monitor-changes-in-ai-answers-over-time).

## How the main cadence options compare

| Cadence | Good for | Weak spot |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Single live check | Quick spot checks, demos | One sample; not repeatable |
| Daily runs | Trend lines, spotting model updates, alerts | Needs a fixed prompt set |
| Weekly runs | Low-budget directional tracking | Slow to show short-term shifts |
| Crawler feeds | Seeing which bots read your pages | Shows access, not citations |

Crawler analytics and citation tracking answer different questions, so the best setups combine them: crawlers show whether a model can read you, citations show whether it uses you.

## What does Trackbase report per model?

Trackbase runs every tracked prompt every 24 hours across up to 11 AI models: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overview, [Google AI Mode](https://trackbase.ai/glossary/google-ai-mode), Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Copilot, LLaMA and Mistral. Per model you see the Visibility Score, sentiment, average position and ranking, and cited sources. The platform does not claim real-time data; the pricing page states that data refreshes every 24 hours.

Plan limits matter here. Essential (from EUR 49 per month) tracks 3 models: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Professional (EUR 199 per month) covers all 11 models and adds Share of Voice, competitor ranking and the cited-sources view. Enterprise and Agency plans are custom. Details are on the [pricing page](https://trackbase.ai/pricing), and the [prompt tracking feature page](https://trackbase.ai/features/prompt-tracking) shows how prompts are organised.

A practical reading of the model split: in a recent seven-day window on Trackbase's own tracked prompts, ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overview returned visibility, while Claude, Copilot and the open-model engines returned none. That is exactly why per-model reporting matters; a blended score would have hidden the gap.

## How to evaluate a platform in one afternoon

1. **Ask for the refresh cadence in writing.** "Real-time" without a number is a red flag.

2. **Check which models are in your plan.** Count add-ons before comparing prices.

3. **Open a single prompt.** You should be able to go from a score to the individual answers and the cited URLs.

4. **Check repeat runs.** Good tools run each prompt more than once or show confidence ranges.

5. **Test the export or API.** Per-model data is only useful if it reaches your reporting stack. Trackbase offers an [MCP server](https://trackbase.ai/features/mcp) for pulling the data into Claude.

6. **Run a free baseline first.** The [free AI visibility checker](https://trackbase.ai/free-ai-visibility-checker) gives a quick snapshot before you commit. For share of voice specifically, read [how to measure AI share of voice](https://trackbase.ai/blog/how-to-measure-ai-share-of-voice).

## FAQ

### Can any AI visibility tool show citations in real time?

Not credibly. Citations come from sampling model answers, and the comparison pages we reviewed describe daily or weekly cadences, not a live feed. Treat real-time claims as a prompt to ask how often queries actually run.

### How many prompts do I need for reliable per-model data?

Comparison guides suggest 50 to 100 prompts per product line to start, and warn that fewer than 20 can produce skewed results. Small plans can still be useful as a directional signal, but read single-day movements with care.

### Which AI models should I prioritize?

At a minimum ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, with Google AI Overview and AI Mode close behind, then Claude and Copilot. Add the others when your audience or market uses them. Our overview of [the 11 AI platforms to track](https://trackbase.ai/blog/the-11-ai-platforms-every-brand-should-be-tracking-in-2026) explains the trade-offs.
